This past summer the Senior Ladies US Open golf tournament was held at my home course of Brooklawn Country Club. This was only the second annual US Senior Women’s tournament ever. The US Senior Men’s tournament hit its 42nd year that summer. This is just one example of how women are left out of the golf community. In the journal, “I Just Want to Play” by Lee McGinnis, it is explained that, “Golf is potentially open to all abilities and types of players but, in reality, promotes masculine hegemony with the “citizen golfer” framed as young, male, and able-bodied” (McGinnis 317). In order to get more support and respect, we need more females on the course. Female golfers account for 23% of all golfers, a number that can be greatly improved through the InviteHer movement. The InviteHer is a “movement that seeks to create an enjoyable, welcoming experience for women interested in trying the game or picking it back up” (LPGA Women’s Network). It spreads the message of reaching out to the women in your life and getting them on the golf course.

For my Final campaign, I spread the #inviteHER message to my friends and social media.
