This year I really enjoyed getting to write freely about topics and to the audience of my choice. In my past English composition classes, I was writing solely for my teachers eyes. This was a turning point for my writing in this class because I started writing for an audience that was not just a professor or teacher and more for people who would actually care about what I was writing. When writing for a professor, I bore myself with my own words. This changed when we first began writing for a new audience in our scar stories. I was then able to realize how much easier it is to write in an authentic voice when writing for a friend or parent. It was also interesting to see how much the story shifted. Instead of censoring my words and putting the reader to sleep, my writing became more detailed and engaging. This shift definitely helped me to grow as a writer. Something that I did not enjoy doing was analyzing the mentor text in my blog posts. While I enjoyed getting creative with the X pages, having to navigate through wix was a whole other obstacle that I had to climb. Even at the end of this semester I feel as though I am relearning how to use the site with each new post. I feel as though I learned a whole lot this semester, and I didn't even realize because I enjoyed my time in class. I can't wait to use my comp skills and wix knowledge wherever I go in life.
